What Thumbnail Downloader is, why it exists, and how to reach us.
Thumbnail Downloader exists to solve one small, recurring annoyance: getting a YouTube video's thumbnail at full resolution without digging through browser dev tools or guessing at image URLs by hand. Paste a video, Shorts, or youtu.be link, and the tool checks which of YouTube's five thumbnail files actually exist for that video — default, medium, SD, HD, and maxres — so you're not left downloading a small grey placeholder thinking it's the real image.
It runs entirely in your browser. The link you paste is used only to build an image URL and is never sent to or stored on our server — see the privacy policy for the full details. There's no login, no upload limit, and no cost.
You can also install it as an app from your browser, with no app store and no account. It is the same site with the same approach to privacy, just one tap away from your home screen or desktop. Here's how.
This is an independently run tool and isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube, Google, or Alphabet Inc. See the disclaimer for how thumbnail ownership and copyright are handled.
